As part of the 2025 Community Challenge, ParticipACTION will be providing grants of up to $1,500 to community organizations to help them promote and deliver sport and physical activity opportunities to equity-denied groups, including Black, racialized, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+ and low-income communities, persons with disabilities, newcomers to Canada and older adults.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply for a Community Challenge grant! Once we’ve reviewed all the grant applications, we’ll contact each applicant to confirm their application status, which you can also view by logging in to your account. We expect to notify all applicants by mid-March.

What is the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk?
Who can participate in the Community Challenge?
The Community Challenge is open to everyone in Canada! Community organizations can register their June physical activity and sport initiatives, programs and events and track the numbers of participants on the Challenge webpage from June 1 – 30, 2025. Individuals can also contribute to their community’s final score by registering and finding ways to get active throughout June. After June 30, 2025, finalist communities will be invited to submit an application and share why they deserve to be named Canada’s Most Active Community.
How does the Community Challenge promote equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
Everyone living in Canada should have access to quality sport and physical activity opportunities that help them grow and thrive—physically, emotionally and socially. The Community Challenge helps facilitate low-barrier, inclusive opportunities for people in Canada to participate in physical activity and sport.
This funding will help level the playing field by reducing barriers to physical activity and sport that people belonging to these groups face while building stronger and healthier communities.
